Trash Extravaganza - 12/31/2025

On the final day of the year, we marked the moment not with fanfare but with action. We closed out 2025 with purpose and power. One last Trash Jubilee that perfectly captured what this work is all about.

Some days, our cleanups take us into familiar problem areas across Oregon City, Milwaukie, Happy Valley, and beyond. Other days, like this one, we find ourselves in places we didn’t expect, responding to very real, and more often than not very urgent, human needs. On this sunny final day of the year, that meant hauling an astonishing 980 pounds of garbage off a second-story balcony to help a very sweet, disabled woman avoid eviction.

But that wasn’t the only impact!

This cleanup also provided meaningful, paid work for our participants. Supporting them in covering utility bills, putting food on the table, and heading into the new year with a bit more stability. Two critical needs were met in one day through teamwork and determination.

And yes, it really was 980 pounds, all loaded into the bed of our trustiest of steads, Truck Norris, and hauled away for proper disposal.

As we turn the page to 2026, we’re not slowing down. We’re kicking off the new year strong with an extravaganza of enormous proportions on January 9th, and we can’t wait to share what’s ahead!!
