Trash Jubilee - 02/11/26

February 11th brought us a truly unique Trash Jubilee. We don’t often find ourselves working on private property. Especially one featuring a large, thoughtfully constructed structure. This site stood out immediately. Built by someone with clear carpentry experience, the structure included an estimated 15 pallets as a foundation, plywood flooring, 2x4 and plywood walls, and even insulation. It was impressive in both scale and craftsmanship.

For the first time, this meant breaking out crowbars and hammers to carefully dismantle something that was solidly built. While it’s always sobering to step into situations like this, the timing allowed us to fully clear the site and restore the property for the owner while the resident is away.

With a two-person wrecking crew, the work moved fast and efficiently. In just two hours, they managed to fill a 30-yard dropbox completely to the brim! As is tradition, I once again underestimated just how much material was on site, but the team rose to the challenge without missing a beat.

Huge thanks to the amazing Jennifer for her collaboration, and to the incredible Kate for her quick responses and for coordinating both the delivery and pickup of the dropbox. We’re also grateful to the Clackamas Garbage Company for having everything ready to go and supporting this effort.

We truly appreciate these partnerships and the teamwork that make this work not only possible but genuinely rewarding.
